Employability for refugees – N.E.S.T (UK)

Volunteered with N.E.S.T., the multi-award-winning, student-led initiative based at Newcastle University, dedicated to empowering the refugee and asylum-seeking community through ESOL tuition, integration support, and community-building activities.

In the Employability Department, I assisted refugees—many facing language barriers and isolation—in preparing job applications, refining CVs, and crafting university admissions documents. Through one-to-one and group sessions, I helped boost their UK-specific employability and academic confidence, contributing to their smoother integration in society.
